I am taking a break... and flying to Kansas Saturday morning to be with my mom and family. She was diagnosed with cancer in her liver last Thursday. She had not been feeling well since February.

Scott H. and I visited Fr. Gene and Cathy F. today. He is conscious and is able to speak on a limited basis. It was really nice to look into his eyes again and to know that he recognized us.

He can lift his head and move his fingers in his right hand. He can move his toes with some effort. He realizes that he has a long way to come back.

Kenney M. ^{Update #14 Time Sensitive!}

Kenny M. still has the tube in his nose to his stomach. Surgery will be this afternoon or in the morning to make the hole for the bag a tad bigger. Pray it helps.

He is getting very discouraged. I do my best to help him keep a positive outlook. It is very hard to do. He is a stubborn and hard headed as I am. ha  (Pam J. 090421) 

Kenny has developed complications. This afternoon he was sick at his stomach. He has a blockage somewhere, right now we have not been told where. They have put a tube in his nose.

It was a long day. Kenny M. made it through surgery just fine. He was talking and cracking jokes when I left his room.
They could not touch the tumor due to the location and size. He has a colostomy bag, a port in place for chemo and we will know about the liver in a day or two. I will be going back in the morning for them to teach me to change his bag.

I was with my brother Kenny M. this morning when the Oncologist came in. The cancer has spread to the liver, and the lymph nodes in his abdomen area. Today they will do chest x-ray and a CT scan of the brain to make sure it hasn't spread there.

The outlook is dim, but we still have hope.

Hi, Still no response. Talked with Dr. L. yesterday and he said they will probably run another CT scan later this week. He said it's going to be a long process. They take at least one x-ray each day. Very little change.

The nurse said this morning they were going to start feeding him more  through the tube in his nose and back off on the intravenous >>>

Hi all,

They are backing him off the sedative slowly. Late yesterday he nodded his head once at two different times to questions. Once for me and once for the nurse. The nurse said it may be tomorrow before he wakes up, but will still be very groggy. They do not have him on any bp med now. He is breathing a little on his own, veeerrryyy little, they are forcing that and don't want him doing too much at a time. Still slow - but progress, thank you God. Oh, yes, Yesterday's CT scan. They did not find any indication that he had had a stoke. Stomach o.k., Chest, lungs, had improved slightly. Everything is in mini-steps. The doctor said to expect that.

They ran a CT scan Thursday on his head, his lungs, and his stomach. I have only from from the head scan and said they couldn't see anything (not really) but nothing that would indicate he had had a stroke.

Dr. Lea thought that he might have had a stoke and caused the aspiration. But no indication of it on the scan that the experts can see.

He is still under sedation and probably will be for a >>>>

few more days.

I only saw him for a very few minutes this morning (Fri.) because they were inserting a feeding tube from his nose into the intestine (going through the stomach of course). He will still be fed intravenously. His oxygen level is still at 50%. Love to all. Catherine or Cathy

Thanks to all for their prayers of agreement with Fr. Gene - that he will recover and finish his course.

As of 3/24 when I visited the hospital, he has passed the 72hr mark. The doctor's prognosis is not quite as bleak. Gene is not loosing ground but gaining slowly. They will keep him fully sedated for another week or so.

Keep Cathy in prayer also. This is very tiring for her. She is quite a remarkable lady!

Fr. Gene's wife, Cathy, left me a message about 11:30 this morning. Fr. Gene was on 70% oxygen rather than the 100% when I was there yesterday. This is marked improvement.

Although he was not conscious, I told him when I was there that we were agreeing with him that he would recover and spend some productive years in ministry. (this was his profession of faith before surgery) Please be in agreement with us.

Fr. Gene F. of the Charismatic Episcopal Church had heart valve replacement surgery a few days ago. The surgery was successful.

Now he has developed pneumonia in both lungs the doctors say the prognosis is not good.

Father Gene has stated he does not feel his task is finished as of yet and it is his desire to "finish his course."

I went to the ER Friday with chest pains, extremely high blood pressure, exhaustion. I had tests ran to look for a blockage, Peripheral Artery Disease, blood clots. I have been put on medication for the blood pressure. As of now, it's not helping. So far they have found that one main valve in the heart is not functioning properly.

I have worked 8 am to 9 pm Mon through Sat. and 1 to 6 on Sunday since Jan 2nd. No day off until this past Saturday and had to be in the hospital to get that!!

Please pray for NO blockage in the heart, my blood pressure to get back to normal. Pray that I somehow, find peace in my life and be able to handle this stressful job I have, (or find one with less stress. )

The new year brings whispers of a well-lit-way.

We had to take David to the emergency room on Christmas Eve because he had ran a fever for about 3 days and it was up to 102. They were unable to find a reason behind the fever, gave him antibiotics and sent us home.

Tylenol and antibiotics have kept his fever low. Today he has a fever of 99, and they cannot figure out why.

Christmas Day, David was able to have a few bites of mashed potatoes and he usually is able to get down a couple bites of yogurt. The biggest problem we are facing, health wise, is David's saliva glands. I am asking everyone to specifically petition the throne of God this week, to heal David's saliva glands. Jesus said in Matthew 18:19-20 "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." ^{Update #3, cont.} >>>

Concerning our business, please lift it up in prayer as well. We have had a sales agent out for the last 2 weeks sick with pneumonia. This combined with David's health and the economy has put a strain on the company. God is our provider and we put our hope in him.

They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint."


The outside of his neck has completely cleared up. There are no scabs nor scars. For the most part he is still unable to eat and must remain on the feeding tube until he is able to consume enough food to provide proper nutrition to his body.

His next appointment is scheduled for Monday, January 5th to see his oncologist, Dr. Murphy for his biweekly check up. The following appointment is Monday, January 12th, to see his throat specialist surgeon, Dr. Birkley. He is going to put a scope ^{Update #3, cont.} >>>

Wilford B. was to start Chemo today. It can't be done at the moment. His blood is too low. He goes in tomorrow for a blood transfusion.

Mother & Daughter  

My mother is 89 years old and she is having a lower back pan for over a month now ,the Doctor said that is osteoporosis and some times that is the sciatic nerve, beside that she is dramatic and every day she wants to find some thing new and some times is hard for me.

I don't have brothers or sisters to ask for help and some days I really don't feel like going over to her house because she has a lady that goes every day in the morning and afternoon and I know she is not critical.

Daily he is coughing less.  He has more of an appetite and his energy, although still low, is returning.  Speaking for an  extended period seems to tire him.

He is sleeping better and is able to breath more easily.  His lungs are showing signs of clearing more and more.

The Sojourner needs our prayers.  He has been suffering from an infection in his lungs which has caused challenges in breathing and sleeping, headaches, and lack of energy, to name a few symptoms.  Please pray that:

1.) His lungs are clear of infection, excess fluid etc..

2.) His lungs function properly and his body gets all of the oxygen it needs through normal breathing.

3.) He is gets sweet, restful, peaceful sleep.

4.) All other symptoms (and their causes) are eliminated.

5.) Peace--nothing missing and nothing broken is manifested in his body.

6.) He recovers quickly.

It seems like forever since I have given an update. I'm sorry for the delay.

David has completed his 7 weeks of treatment. He went to the doctor's office for a check up and he is looking at about 2 week out before he begins to feel better. At least that's what the world says. (We know better) His neck is healing very well. The majority of the redness is leaving and the scabbing is clearing up.

The biggest problem he still faces is the mucus. Please, Prayer Warriors, lift David up in prayer concerning this condition. The medicine he is on to help fight the mucus causes sleepiness. Besides the time he was in the hospital, David has not missed a days worth of work. Praise God.

Specific Prayer Requests:
1)Mucus gone.
2)Saliva glands and voice return.
3)Neck healing -inside and out.
4)That the cancer is gone!

David will not be able to be tested for a while due to the effect that the radiation has on the tumor (what tumor?). It may cause it to swell which would give false test results.

The Sojourner's Family

This last Sunday The Sojourner's Uncle Don passed away following a long battle with cancer. The Sojourner says, "I never met a finer man.  We were all blessed to have him in our family."

We are saddened to inform you of the sudden passing on of our Beloved Rev Alfred Adolwa, Pastor over Nzoia church 25 miles from Bungoma town. The Brother Alfred and his wife trained in Assemblies of God in Tanzania and joined our Ministry in 1982. Since then, they have worked tirelessly and have been faithful in our Ministry. He is respected as one of the Ministry Elders. Recently, he started constructing a new church building which is not complete but roofed. The fruits of his diligence have been seen.

David has 9 radiation treatments left and 2 chemo. We are almost at the end and looking back we only see one set of footprints in the sand, yet know full well that Jesus carried us. David has reached a peak point in his radiation that it cannot make the inside of his throat any worse, it will only continue to affect the outside of his throat. We would like to inform you of the illness that has struck one of our Ministry Elders, the Rev Alfred Adolwa. Its now one week in Webuye hospital where he was admitted and doctors discovered that he suffering from stroke on left hand side. He is not in a good condition and today, he has been referred to Eldoret Moi referral Hospital.

Rev Alfred Adolwa, Senior Pastor with Nzoia GBF church is one of the Ministry Council elders whom has proved to be of good praise.

We kindly request for your prayer for his healing and quick recovery.

David is experiencing an occurrence with what the Doctor said is cancer of the throat.  The Doctor also said, "David this is just the devil trying to stop you,...."

He has completed 4 weeks of therapy with 3 weeks to go, at the end of which the cancer is projected to be 90% curable.

I went to visit my Uncle Wilford today. His color was worse.  He has lost more weight.  He still can't eat, though he tries. 

He spirits are good.  He told my cousin and I, "I will be 'OK,'" and gave us a wink.  We couldn't tell if he was comforting us or himself.

Aunt Lil,  as I said before, has strong faith.  She is still waiting on the miracle that he will be completely healed from this cancer.  She asked if I was still updating you for prayers.  I told her, with a smile, "Yes I am, --and they are all praying."  She responded while looking to the heavens, "Lord continue to bless those dear people.  I know we will get our miracle."

Wilford B. ^{Update #3 Time Sensitive!}

I just spoke with my Aunt, Wilford is not doing well today.

He is not able to keep food or liquid down.  She told me too, that the Dr. they saw yesterday said he did not think continuing chemo is good idea.  He believes it will not help at this point.

Aunt Lillian still believes he will get better with continuing prayers.  She is a firm believer in the Lord and that prayers do work.

Amy B. ^{Praise Report!}

Amy B. was released from the hospital today (Oct. 27).  She had no blockage!!!!  No major Damage to the heart.  Thank you for the prayers. (Pam J. 081027)

Amy B. ^{Time Sensitive!}

My cousin Amy B. went to the hospital with chest pains, that one sent her to a bigger hospital.  She is going through a heart catheterization today.  Amy B. is 43 years old.  Please keep her and her children and grandchildren in your prayers. (Pam J. 081025)

Wilford B. ^{Update #2}

Wilford B. is doing better. He is eating and keeping food down.  His color is better also. 

He will be going to see his Chemo Dr. the 18^th of November to talk about continuing treatments, possibly trying a new kind or a lower dose.  I will be visiting him on Thursday.  I will give another update then.

My Aunt thanks you all for your prayers.  She said, "God bless each of you for praying for a stranger.

Wilford B. ^{Update #1 -- Time Sensitive!}

Wilford B. is eating some, and keeping it down.  Good news there. 

The cancer is still there but not growing or spreading as in a tumor.  His spirits are better, which is good.  He may get to go home mid to end of the week.

 My Uncle Wilford B. is suffering with colon cancer and yesterday (Oct. 23, 2008) doctors also found a blood clot in his pelvic area.
