"The Joy Of The Unnecessary" By
R. E. Fuller, The
Sojourner
People in
time of peace are blessed to be able to do all sorts of
unnecessary things. Things which in times of conflict,
famine, and all out war either can't be done or are
unimaginable! I am not saying unnecessary things are aren't
important to quality of life, they are just not necessary to
sustain life.
It is
possible to become so comfortable as to forget the blessings
of the necessary while becoming disenchanted with not having
more of the unnecessary.
I have
known people who were so unhappy with the furnishing in
their house they forgot to be thankful for their house. I
met others who have been so unhappy in their employment they
have forgotten to be thankful for their employment, even
though only a few months earlier they had been excited to be
employed.
The
unnecessary follows the necessary. Being filled with the joy
of the Lord is necessary! Delight yourself in the Lord the
Bible says:
4
Delight yourself in the
LORD
and he will give you the desires of your
heart.
(Psalm 37:4
NIV)
The joy from
delighting myself in the Lord gives me strength and doing
this is necessary. Doing this, the LORD will give me both
the necessary and the joy of the unnecessary and I will have
a thankful heart!
Remember...
We need to always focus on Christ!
The blessings of
our Lord on you and all that is yours by blood, adoption or assignment!
