"If Everything Seems Normal" By
R. E. Fuller, The
Sojourner
Isaiah 5:18-24
(NIV)
Isaiah 5:18-24
(KJV)
Isaiah 5:18-24
(AMP)
If everything seems normal it
may not be God! What we perceive as "normal" may well be
ungodly in much of our ambient culture. TV on with the
normal programming and news or the very food in our meals
even may not be godly.
Now, before you think I am
condemning everything let me assure you I am not. I do want
to encourage you to evaluate your surroundings, the
environment of your life, to determine if what seems normal
to you might need to be seen as not within the realm of what
God has intended to be your normal environment.
The other day I was talking
with a person and said to him that we live at a time when
congregations have been acculturated in a Christianizes
society. What do I mean by this? I mean it is difficult to
be godly if your view of life and the world is compromised
by the world view and not a biblical view.
What the world calls good may
not in fact be good in the Lord's view. Even in the Old
Testament Isaiah recorded this caution:
| |
20
Woe to those who call evil
good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter.
(Isaiah 5:20
NIV) |
|
If in the world's culture all
I have ever heard is that partly good is good, partly dark
is acceptable and bitter is just the way life is with no
sweetness that is what I would believe and, therefore, what
I would expect. God has seen to it that the Bible is
available to me so I will know what is good, what is light,
and what is sweet. I am, therefore, able to know what
scripture says is for me and that His goodness, light, and
sweet blessing is to be normal for those who have chosen
Christ!
God's will is His normal
and His normal is for all Believers. All other "normal" is
abnormal and not of God. If everything seems normal I need
to be certain it is God's normal!
Remember...
We need to always focus on Christ!
The blessings of
our Lord on you and all that is yours by blood, adoption or assignment!
